Volunteering

As far as I can remember, volunteering comes up in Fundraiser and Community Service badges, possibly other places too.

Either way, I have wanted to do some voluntary work for some time and have signed up to a few things recently, having recentlyretired. Cultural Ambassadors will hopefully need help when they finalise their programme this winter. I've volunteered to walk children with SEND to their weekly swimming lessons and that should start next week. I've put feelers out to Lambourne End, which a local Rebel highlighted.

I did a 7-hour shift at Valence House Museum yesterday. I helped run cupcake decorating sessions for kids.

It was great fun, though I was completely knackered by the end. The really lovely thing was how friendly and welcoming everyone was. It really made me reflect on what was missing from my previous place of work during the last few years. It is clearly a really happy place to work and I'm looking forward to going back next week.
