Bargello. Kind of.

So the bestie and I got these Bargello kits on the cheap from Aldi. The box contained canvas, yarn, a needle, a piece of dowel and some instrucions. As usual, I decided to ignore the latter altogether and set to it.

The pattern was ridiculously dependent on counting tiny squares so I decided to make up my own pattern, which quickly began to resemble a Scandi sock design.
It was also taking for fricking ever and, tbh, got a bit boring to work on. Then, horror of horror, Julie finished hers when I was only half way done. I took the piss by asking her about the origins of the work and any cultural significance, knowing she'd know as much as me, ie it came from Aldi.
I then felt obliged to answer my own question (thanks wiki) and discovered there is a traditional wave pattern, which looked simpler and quicker than my accidental sock-look. I gave it a go but ended up with a zigzag finish.
Just pleased to finish it so I can gift it to some unsuspecting soul and tick something off the craft page (having first written it in!🤣).
