Apothecary Badge part 2 - moisturiser

I'm somewhat surprised that, as a serial starter, I've moved onto the second part of the badge, particularly considering that my lip balm was not the greatest success. The pots are cute as buttons, though.

I prepared by going back to the ingredients supplied by the soapery and finding an actual online recipe. 25g each of coconut oil and shea butter and 1tsp of vitamin e oil required and all the ingredients were there ready and waiting. I had also saved a lovely blue glass jar for the purpose (thank you Neal's Yard). At that point, I felt mildly smug.

But what I don't have is an accurate set of scales for tiny quantities (I'm neither a baker nor a drug dealer) so I found myself back in the position of winging it, measurement-wise. The smugness evaporated! I tried to be more accurate by squishing the ingedients and using a heaped tablespoon of each. As per the recipe, I melted the coconut oil and added in the shea butter and oil. The recipe called for whipping so I used my stick blender. I don't know if it was my imagination, but it had an undernote of vegetable soup. 😆😆😆

Anyway, I kept blending away with very little change, so I put it into the fridge for a couple of hours before further risking my blender's motor. My concoction eventually assumed the consistency of moisturiser and I went about the messy business of potting it into my recycled jar and a tiny travel pot, which I shall be gifting to Julie, my besty. She will doubtless be thrilled. 🤣

So, nothing left to do but make a dodgy label and tackle the oily carnage in the kitchen.

I may make some soup later just to see if it smells of moisturiser.
